Week 2: Texas Hold 'em

another secret practice photo

Coach Guye uses specially designed practice equipment to prepare for the Texas Outlaws.

(Mistakatonic University Press) - After halfback Jamal Smith ran roughshod over the Duluth Moose in week 1, he asked Arkham coach Neal F. Guye for a week off. Guye's answer was simple:

"No."

"Texas is the best team in the APFL," said Guye. "We need you, and every other Grave Robber, on the field." Defensive end Nevin Carlson will miss the Texas game with a concussion. He had 4 tackles against Duluth, giving up only 8 yards, and will be missed. The Grave Robbers will move Jonathan Higgs over to DE, while filling the middle with skilled, but slow, Pete Frazier. Here are the matchups for Week 2:

The Texas defense looks superior, and the Arkham offense should prevail on paper. Texas coach brilliant_dude, however, is a well-known passing expert and his teams regularly score 50 points. This promises to be a very close game.

With luck, the Grave Robbers can slow down the Texas aerial attack enough to stay close. Otherwise, look for a Texas blowout.
