A L B U Q U E R Q U E S C O R P I O N S #01-#04-Albuquerque-DL-Darin Hall The pre-draft hype for Hall was amazing. AMI and IMPACT both said he should go middle of the second round. He's a load, no question, and Albuquerque is still weak on the DL. This draft simply wasn't deep enough to address those problems. You hate to see a #4 pick as a small part of a solution. #02-#16-Albuquerque-OL-Dennis Williams Williams was a steal at #16. He's fast enough to play with the rest of the Scorpion's line, and the strongest, too. It would have been nice to see the Scorps take either 2 OL or 2 DL with these picks, since they would have gone much further to shore up at least one side of the ball. The Scorps can get out on screens and move the pocket, but can they actually stop anyone when they arrive? #04-#40-Albuquerque-TE-Richmond Warrick Why take him when you already have Ben Davis on the roster? He's not a super blocker, or a super receiver. It's all role-playing when you've got Davis ahead of you on the depth chart. The Scorps could have gone much further with Spitulski or Nevin Carlson. #05-#52-Albuquerque-SS-Adrian Elway Taken 2 rounds too early. He's not skilled enough to go man- to-man, and not strong enough to rush the passer. Curtis O'Connor would have been a better pick at safety. #06-#64-Albuquerque-WR-Tim Scott Both rating systems had this guy off the chart, and with the Scorps already three-deep at wideout, why take him? Greg Clark might have been a better pick. #07-#76-Albuquerque-FB-Daniel Brady Widell would have been a nice backup in case of injury, this guy is not. OVERALL: Albuquerque is left with gaps on both lines, and no speed in the secondary. Everything else is in place for a superb team. Unfortunately, the early pick of Darin Hall and the nice snag of Dennis Williams won't help this team nearly enough. The rest of the picks are insignificant. Hopefully the team got something good for its #28. GRADE: D
