H A D D O N F I E L D P U M P K I N S #05-Haddonfield-HB-Kenny Proctor Hard to know how well Proctor will fare with his Hodgkins disease and Downs Syndrome (ha ha ha just kidding, George). Definitely the best choice at HB in this draft, though. With the right blocking schemes, he should be okay, although he has real trouble following blockers. Hopefully this won't be a pick George looks back on with sadness. #09-Haddonfield-LB-Kenny Arnold Picked right where predicted. This guy will terrorize offenses for a long time. A definite upgrade for George, but perhaps not his greatest need for the #9 pick. #17-Haddonfield-DL-Cary Carlson A real stinker. The Pumpkins are willing to trade off Strength for Speed in their defensive line, but Carleson was a fourth- rounder. His mediocre Agility will limit his rushing effectiveness on passing downs, and his stupidty will limit his tackling effectiveness on running plays. A definte candidate for worst pick of the draft. He probably looked good in camp competing against George's weak OL, but in the season to come, he will be treated like Ryan Leaf at Pumpkin Stadium. #21-Haddonfield-LB-Tim Greenleaf Hard to argue with this pick. Greenleaf is the complete package. Once again, George forgoes Strength for Speed, but this time it's a good trade. His linebacking went from sub-par to very good with these two picks. #33-Haddonfield-OL-Vic Salisbury Much-need strength in the OL. Not a replacement for Vince Tabron, but a good player. He went right where the AMIR predicted, and to a team that needed him. Solid. #41-Haddonfield-CB-Paul Fullington This was too early to start taking on projects. Fullington needs a pair of improvements in Discipline and Intelligence to be left alone on an enemy wideout. Until then, he'll react quickly to receivers - tackling them after the catch. #54-Haddonfield-WR-Don Hellestrae Two rounds early for Don. This pick competes with Cary Carlson as worst of the draft. With Flagler and Treem already on the roster, this lumbering package of great skills will only be seen near the goal line. There was plenty of talent left at this pick. #57-Haddonfield-TE-Don Fluke A great pick. Not that he'll ever play except on special teams, but he's a nice problem for defensive coaches. Too bad his hands are so bad. #65-Haddonfield-QB-Roger Fear IMPACT says he's the steal of the draft (#23). He's got a 1/3 chance of improving his Strength at the end of the season, plus another 1/10 chance if he's on the List of Ten. Until then, he's just a scrap from the draft. You'd think someone like Greg Clark would have been a nice role-playing pick here. OVERALL: George upgraded his linebacking with his early picks, but that wasn't his area of greatest need. OL only brought him one player, Salisbury, and that is the last area he needs to improve before winning a championship. There's a lot of scrap in this draft for the Pumpkins, but they are so strong they can afford to take some wild ones late. GRADE: B -
