S E O U L C H O S U N #01-Seoul-FB-Sam Buck Everyone wanted him, you can't fault Dave for taking him. He's probably going to haunt defenses for years to come. Seoul can easily run a very effective package with two fullbacks, Carter and Buck. In retrospect, Proctor would have been a better pick for Seoul here, because FB Carter is a already a formidable blocker. #13-Seoul-SS-Nicholas Collard Great player who fills a huge hole for the Chosun. #03-#25-Seoul-LB-Bryan Fain Solid and needed. The AMIR say he went a round late. #04-#37-Seoul-QB-Ricky West West was my least favorite QB of the top three. In a super- fast passing game (a la Marino) he will do well. His passing accuracy could be a problem, though. There are many situations where Josh Wells is a better fit. Irwin Lewis would have been a better pick here. #05-#49-Seoul-DL-Mark McGuire The Seoul DL is horrible, and this pick doesn't help. The team has no shortage of pint-sized, lumbering ends. Steve Heart was still available at this pick, he has a lot to offer from this late pick. Garin Mersereau, Tab Millnichik, Marcus Bull, Daryl Gardner. All would have been better picks. #06-#61-Seoul-HB-Phil Underwood Fantastic pick, one of the best of the draft. To wait until the sixth round to get a starter-level halfback is amazing. The AMIR say it's a two-round steal, IMPACT says it's better than a whole round. Very nice patience. #07-#73-Seoul-DL-Carlos Binder Yet another wimp on the DL. He has every needed skill but Strength. Kenny Proctor can beat him in arm wrestling. There's no statistical chance of him being Strength 50 at the end of his career. At this pick, I would have chosen Greg Clark or Guy Widell. OVERALL: The Chosun used two late picks on horrible DL. Other than that, they've done exactly as they set out to do. They've formed a respectable OL and put a great FB and good HB behind it. Ricky West was probably a misstep, but not a huge one. They still need some work on the receiving corps, but they are one of the best expansion teams I have ever seen, before the first season.
